Who needs an Environmental Clearance?
Any new or expansion projects listed in the EIA – Notification 2006 and its amendments thereof require Environmental Clearance from Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEF&CC).
What is the difference between Category A and Category B projects?
The projects are divided into 2 categories based on their threshold capacities as specified in EIA-Notification 2006 and its amendments thereof. Category ‘A’ projects will be appraised at the Central level while Category ‘B’ projects at the State level.
What are the stages in the process of an EC?
At what stage of the project do you need to contact us to obtain an EC?
Environmental Clearance needs to be obtained before the commencement of construction of the project. It is advised to approach us apply for an EC at least 12 months in advance.
What is the monitoring mechanism for ensuring compliance with environment clearance conditions?
Project Proponent is required to submit a half yearly compliance report, twice in a year i.e. 1st June and 1st December, to MoEF/SEIAA and Regional offices of MoEF in soft copies for monitoring of the project both during construction and operation phases.
When can you obtain Consent to Establish (CTE)/ Consent for Establishment (CFE)?
The CTE/ CFE can be obtained from SPCB after receiving the Environmental Clearance for the project.
When can you obtain Consent to Operate (CTO)/ Consent for Operation (CFO)?
